As the medieval German Reich did not yet have a capital city, the "seats of the government" – called the Palatinates – were distributed throughout the whole country.

The Palatinate was a place, in which courtly ways of life were upheld, from where the law and the corresponding villages and areas were administered. Bad Wimpfen, the largest Palatinate north of the Alps, is these days still an attraction.

Situated in idyllic surroundings over the Neckar Valley, with an impressive medieval setting and narrow alleyways that can be seen from a great distance above, the small town is bursting with charisma. The best way to discover the interesting history is on a guided tour of the town with a lady in Staufer period dress.

The largeley visible Blue Tower invites to wonderful views over the Neckar and the environment.
